Mission Statement:
The Department on Aging connects older adults and adults with disabilities to resources and assistance for living safely with independence and dignity.
The Department on Aging is one of the states designated Aging and Disability Resource Center for Dolton. We provide information and resources for senior and adults with disabilities. We also help their families and caregivers. We can connect you with local resources like elder care, adult day care, housing assistance, home care, meals, housekeeping, legal assistance, personal care, and even volunteer work. We are one of eleven regional Area Agencies on Aging in the state of Illinois.

The Americans for Better Hearing Foundation (ABHF)
The ABHF provides hearing healthcare for Medicaid eligible recipients. ABHF provides both hearing diagnostics and dispenses the hearing aids. Medicare and Medicaid cover the cost of the diagnostics and Medicaid will cover the cost of the hearing aids, the batteries, and any repairs for as long as the person is Medicaid eligible.

Senior Health Assistance Program (SHAP) Offices offer you information and free help filling out applications for senior programs.
SHAP is located South Suburban Senior Services of Catholic Charities at 15300 South Lexington Avenue, Harvey, Illinois.

Prevent Aging Abuse
Trained professionals are available and prepared to take reports of suspected abuse and forward them promptly to local adult protective service agencies. All calls and information related to abuse, neglect, and exploitation are strictly confidential. The sooner we know about the abuse, the sooner we can put a stop to it.
The Illinois Department on Aging (IDoA) has launched a new public and professional awareness campaign to remind everyone about the importance of reporting suspected abuse, neglect and exploitation of persons ages 60 and older and persons with disabilities ages 18-59.
