The importance of Code Enforcement

  • Maintain and increase property values
  • Reduce vandalism
  • Bolster maintenance and continued development in the village

Speed Bump Program

The Village of Dolton has adopted a speed bump program in order to calm speeding in areas that experience this issue. It is not feasible to install speed bumps on every street in Dolton therefore a system has been developed so that residents can request that the Village consider a certain location.

In order for the Village to consider a location for the installation of speed bumps, a resident must do the following:

  1. Pick up or download a “Request for Speed Bump Review” form.
  2. Complete the form entirely and submit it back to the Village Hall in care of the       “Public Safety Committee Chairman”.

The Public Safety Committee Chairman will review the request and then forward it to the Police Department. The Police Department will conduct a speed survey of the area in question and then deliver the findings back to the Public Safety Committee Chairman. The Chairman will call for a public meeting specifically for the residents that live on the affected Block. The meeting is to advise of the request and to poll the residents of the block as to the resident’s desire to have speed bumps or not.

The Village of Dolton reserves the right to deny or refuse any request. The Village also reserves the right to introduce alternative enforcement measures in lieu of speed bumps.

Questions regarding the speed bump program can be directed to the Village Hall at (708)849-4000 or The Police Department at (708)841-2533.

Speed Bump Application

Simply stated, code enforcement is for the common good. These rules and regulations have been enacted by the village to help ensure attractive neighborhoods, vibrant businesses, and a peaceful and enjoyable community for everyone.
