Distracted Driving Could Ruin Your Prom, Graduation…or LIFE!

Distracted Driving Could Ruin Your Prom, Graduation…or LIFE!

With high school prom and graduation season upon us, a “mock crash” demonstrating the dangers of distracted driving will be set up in the Village of Dolton.

It will be on display for seven days beginning Monday May 8th at Sibley Boulevard and Champlain Avenue.

“The idea of the display is to not let distracted or impaired driving cause you to lose your life or take some one else’s” according to a statement released by the Dolton Fire Department.

The vehicles were donated courtesy of GTS Towing and the display set up with the cooperation of School District 205, and the Village of Dolton’s Fire Department and Police Department.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, at any moment during daylight hours, about 660,000 drivers are handling cell phones or other electronic devices.

Studies show drivers are at least 3 times more likely to get into accidents while manipulating mobile devices.
