As the Fire Chief for the Village of Dolton, I am extremely grateful, humbled and excited with having the opportunity and challenge of leading the dedicated group of firefighters that make up the Dolton Fire Department.

I have been blessed to be a member of the Dolton Fire Department since 2009, with my firefighting career commencing nearly 15-years ago, beginning as a volunteer firefighter with the Garden Homes Fire Protection District. Prior to my appointment as Fire Chief with the Village of Dolton, I spent ten years with the Village of Dixmoor Fire Department. I was privileged to have the opportunity to serve as the Fire Chief with the Dixmoor Fire Department from 2006 to 2011. My previous experience as a ranking Lieutenant, Assistant Chief, and Administrative Fire Chief has given me the necessary experience to achieve potential success as the newly appointed Fire Chief with the Village of Dolton.

As a leader, my management styles combine a Transformational and Servant style leadership. Transformational Leadership is defined as the leader to build a level of trust with his or her team members. While this is done on a daily basis, it allows for a level of trust and respect that translates nicely into strict compliance at emergency incidents to be built up. When properly used, this leadership style allows the follower to fit within organizational needs because those needs have been tailored to the skills and interests of the organization’s members.

Servant Leadership allows the leader to support a group of people and create and nurture two-way respect. People come to feel that the servant leader cares about them and would not jeopardize their safety. This translates to better followership during times of emergency.

My Vision is to mold the culture within the department to reflect a community-orientated fire department that gives back to the community. My Goals and Expectations is to lead a group of professional firefighters that perform their jobs to the fullest extent, while providing good government service to the fine residents of the Village of Dolton.

In addition to my twelve years of leadership and management experience as a ranking officer, I have obtained numerous Office of the State Fire Marshal Certifications; including the recent completion of the OSFM Fire Officer III/IV Chief Fire Officer Certification Course. The Chief Fire Officer Certification is the highest level of fire service management training within the State of Illinois. In addition to numerous certification courses, I have attended Moraine Valley Community College, Lewis University, and currently Columbia Southern University.

I currently reside in south suburbs with my wife and three children whom I am lucky to have in my life.
