WATER METER READERS

The Village of Dolton is currently hiring for 2 part time temporary Water Meter Readers.  The position description and like detail is attached, please review the description, duties, and feel free to apply online by visiting our website and selecting the “Documents and Form” link and printing out and application. Job Description/Duties/KSA’s

Qualifications

The Successful candidate will be responsible for obtaining readings of meter dials and entering the data into route books or hand-held computers; Uploading collected data into appropriate databases; Verifying readings in cases where consumption appears to be abnormal and record/report reasons for fluctuation; Inspecting meters for unauthorized connections, defects or irregularities; Communicating services and charge information to customers as needed.

In addition the following Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities are required:

Possession of a valid Illinois driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record; Reliable  vehicle with insurance coverage; The ability to walk and/or drives along established routes to obtain readings; Be able to perform physical activities that require the use of the entire body including but not limited to accessing small, difficult areas to obtain readings; Must be tolerable of regular exposure to cold and heated climates due to weather fluctuations;  Must be able to see well at close range as well as at a distance; Must be able to work independently; Must be able to effectively communicate with the internal and external customers in order to ensure quality of service to the public.
