WATER METER READERS
The Village of Dolton is currently hiring for 2 part time temporary Water Meter Readers. The Successful candidate will be responsible for obtaining readings of meter dials and entering the data into route books or hand-held computers; Uploading collected data into appropriate databases; Verifying readings in cases where consumption appears to be abnormal and record/report reasons for fluctuation; Inspecting meters for unauthorized connections, defects or irregularities; Communicating services and charge information to customers as needed.
In addition the following Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities are required:
Possession of a valid Illinois driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record; Reliable vehicle with insurance coverage; The ability to walk and/or drives along established routes to obtain readings; Be able to perform physical activities that require the use of the entire body including but not limited to accessing small, difficult areas to obtain readings; Must be tolerable of regular exposure to cold and heated climates due to weather fluctuations; Must be able to see well at close range as well as at a distance; Must be able to work independently; Must be able to effectively communicate with the internal and external customers in order to ensure quality of service to the public.
